Aberdeen City Council proposes limit of 6 medical marijuana dispensaries – AberdeenNews.com
The Aberdeen City Council resumed discussion about a proposed ordinance that would regulate medical marijuana establishments Monday and agreed the number of dispensaries should be limited to six.
The city’s proposed ordinance outlines regulations for dispensaries as well as facilities for cultivation, manufacturing and testing.
According to the proposal, the facilities would be allowed on property zoned as a city industrial park or in an unrestricted industrial district. Dispensaries would also be allowed in highway commercial districts and the central business district.
The discussion, during a city council work session, was a continuation of a review of the proposed ordinance that started before the council’s Aug. 23 meeting.
The measure had two places where council input was sought — the number of dispensaries allowed and whether additional setbacks would be required aside from the 1,000-foot separation required from public or private schools.
