PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was critically injured after being hit by a car at a Taco Bell in Southeast Portland Wednesday afternoon, according to Portland police.

Officers found the man shortly before 1:30 p.m. after a report of a hit-and-run in a Taco Bell parking lot, located at Southeast 126th Avenue and Division Street.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. His name has not been released.

It appeared the man and the driver of the car, a woman, had been in an altercation, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson. The woman then struck the man with her car while leaving the parking lot, Simpson said.

“I thought he was dying,” said Jovah Siegel, who stayed with the man until first responders arrived. “At any moment I thought he was going to go.”

The woman’s car was described as a dark-colored SUV, according to police.

Homicide detectives were called in to lead the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
