Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams, a two-time finalist for the Payton Award as the best player in the FCS, announced on Instagram today that he is planning to play his final season of college football for Oregon.

Adams, who will have immediate eligibility as a graduate transfer, joins a competitive quarterback situation as the Ducks seek a successor to 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota.

Adams passed for 3,843 yards with 35 touchdowns this season and has 20 300-yard passing games to his credit.

This past season Adams and the Eagles faced one Pac-12 team, Washington, falling 59-52 in Seattle with Adams completing 31 of 46 passes for 475 yards and seven touchdowns. The previous year he passed for 55 touchdowns and led EWU to a win at Oregon State.

Eastern Washington announced on Jan. 29 that it was granting Adams the chance to pursue opportunities at the FBS level for his final season of eligibility.

Oregon finished as the College Football Playoff runner-up with Mariota leading its offense. The Ducks open next season Sept. 5 against Eastern Washington.
