Enlite Cannabis, which calls itself the “first minority-owned cannabis dispensary applicant from Western Massachusetts,” will open Tuesday in Northampton.

The Cannabis Control Commission’s Social Equity Program provides training and assistance to those most affected by harsh drug enforcement. When Enlite opens Tuesday on Damon Road, near where the Calvin Coolidge Bridge spans the Connecticut River between Northampton and Hadley, it will do so as the first dispensary in the western part of the state to apply for certification via this program.

Enlite is also owned locally by the Yee, Picknelly and Cutting families, it said in statement.

On Nov. 27, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the dispensary will begin a week-long grand opening — a “Cannacopia” celebration, it says. Showing off marijuana brands from around the region, the event will feature product demos, food trucks and local artists, and is open to anyone over age 21. Among these guests are CannaBizViews, Cultivate, INSA, Ascend MA Wellness Holding, Church, NEA, Resinate, Treeworks, Levia, Sira Naturals, Mary Jane’s Art Shop, White Hut, Holyoke Hummus and Hot Oven Cookies.
