Green Lady Dispensary now open for medical marijuana on Amelia Drive – The Inquirer and Mirror

(March 18, 2021) The Green Lady Dispensary will open for medical marijuana for the first time at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The island’s first dispensary, on Amelia Drive, had been operating as a recreational shop only since it opened in July 2019. It received its final approval to sell medical marijuana from the Cannabis Control Commission last week.
“It’s very important to us,” dispensary co-owner Nicole Campbell said. “We’ve always taken the medical aspects of marijuana very seriously. There are a lot of people who take marijuana medically without a patient card. We’ve been able to help them but now we’re able to do it with a medical card.”
There are two differences between medical and recreational marijuana. People with a medical marijuana card do not have to pay a 17 percent state or 3 percent local tax on cannabis. The Green Lady can also sell edibles with higher dosages of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient in marijuana, for customers with a medical card.
