Man accused of attempting to lure 14-year-old Portland girl with bag of marijuana – OregonLive.com
A 29-year-old man is accused of riding a bike up to a 14-year-old girl walking in Southeast Portland and trying to lure her to an abandoned house for sex by handing her a bag full of marijuana, according to Portland police.
Joshua Poehler was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Multnomah County Circuit Court , accused of luring a minor.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Poehler on Monday rode up to the girl on a red bicycle. She was walking in the area of Southeast 83rd Avenue and Foster Street.
He told the girl she was “really sexy for being so young,” and said some “young girls like older men,” the affidavit said.
He asked her what school she attended, pulled out a bag of marijuana that he said she could hold, and suggested they go to a nearby house to get high and have sex, deputy district attorney Todd Jackson wrote in the affidavit.
The girl tried to create space between the stranger and herself, but he followed her for eight blocks before grabbing her arm and saying, “C’mon let’s go,” the affidavit said.
The girl was able to get away. She had taken a photo of the man as she was walking and gave it to Portland police Officer Michael Filbert.
Filbert located Poehler riding a red bike near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Holgate. Poehler admitted to police he had stopped to talk to a “good-looking girl,” Jackson wrote. The officer found a bag of marijuana in Poehler’s jacket, the affidavit said.
He was arrested. Once he was placed in the back of Filbert’s patrol car, Poehler repeatedly offered to give the officer oral sex if he’d let him go, Jackson wrote in the affidavit.
Police initially had arrested Poehler on allegations of bribe giving, coercion and harassment as well, but the district attorney’s office dismissed those counts.
Poehler is being held at Multnomah County’s Inverness Jail.
