No. 2 seed Oregon State vs. No. 1 seed Dallas Baptist

When: 6 p.m. PT

Where: Horner Ballpark; Dallas, Texas

On air: The game will be broadcast on ESPN3, which is available at or by downloading the Watch ESPN app; Radio on Rip City Radio AM 620 (Portland), KEJO-AM 1240 (Corvallis), KLZS 1450-AM (Eugene) and KKNX 840-AM (Eugene); Live stats can be found on the baseball schedule page at

Records: Oregon State (39-17-1); Dallas Baptist (44-14)

Probable starters: OSU right-hander Travis Eckert (6-1, 3.87 ERA) vs. Dallas Baptist left-hander Sean Stutzman (7-1, 4.59 ERA)

The script: The Beavers had 75 minutes to prepare for this elimination game after falling 5-1 to VCU. A win, and they face the Rams in the Dallas Regional championship at 10:05 a.m. PT. A loss, and their season is done.

The opponent: The Patriots enjoyed a landmark regular season. They topped 40 wins for the first time, ranked as high as No. 9 in the nation and owned college baseball’s top RPI for eight of the past nine weeks. Some national pundits believe Dallas Baptist is a statistical illusion. What makes the Missouri Valley’s No. 2 team a tough draw, though, is it doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses. It ranked in the top three of its conference in every major statistical category.

Opposing player to watch: Second baseman Drew Turbin. The senior from Hayden, Idaho, is the spark plug of an offense that led the Missouri Valley in runs. A year after hitting .258, he is batting .348 with 35 RBIs, three home runs, 53 runs and seven stolen bases.
