Oregon Allows 15-Year-Olds To Get Sex Change Operations Without Parental … – The Inquisitr
Oregon teenagers as young as 15-years-old can now get sex change operations without their parents’ consent. They can also have the operations performed at taxpayers’ expense.
Fox News reports Oregon Health Plan rules were changed in January without any public debate.
“With no public debate, HERC changed its policy to include cross-sex hormone therapy, puberty-suppressing drugs, and gender-reassignment surgery as covered treatments for people with gender dysphoria, formerly known as gender identity disorder.”
After the plan was discussed at four meetings, it was passed without opposition.
The New York Times first reported the change in Oregon’s law.
That story was highlighted in the Weekly Standard, where a reporter asked the following question.
“If Oregon’s political leadership thinks that 15-year-olds are so capable of making monumental decisions like getting sex reassignment surgery all on their own… surely someone mature enough… is capable of making responsible decisions about consuming beer, right?”
The age of medical consent in Oregon is 15. However, that consent depends upon the topic. For instance, 15-year-olds in Oregon may not do a number of things, according to an article by IJ Review.
- Smoke cigarettes
- Work more than 18 hours per week
- Drive alone
- Send or receive a “sext”
- Smoke marijuana
- Use a tanning bed
- Eat unhealthy food at school
- Administer aspirin at school
- Drink alcohol
- Get tattoos
However, without their parents’ consent, Oregon teenagers can consent to sex, obtain birth control, take a pregnancy test, get an abortion, and now get a sex change operation.
Fox News spoke with Dr. Paul McHugh, who led the Johns Hopkins Psychiatry Department.
“We have a very radical and even mutilating treatment being offered to children without any evidence that the long-term outcome of this would be good.”
People living in the state of Oregon are slowly getting up to speed on what the Oregon Health Plan has done.
Here a few of their comments on Facebook about allowing teenagers to get sex change operations.
Trent posted this comment on Facebook.
“Just remember, the state knows what’s best for you and your children. You and I, not so much”
Jan said she’s afraid of what will happen when the child grows up and wants to change their mind about a sex change.
“It is time to get out of this state. What happens when a kid matures and changes their mind and think they really were meant to be a boy or girl after all?”
According to advocates of teenage sex change operations, the move would reduce teen suicides.
Sex change operations would cost about $150,000 per year, according to Oregon Health Plan officials.
