Oregon 38, Stanford 36 — Final

No. 7 Stanford came into the game as one of a handful of playoff contenders, but those aspirations were dashed by Oregon, which invaded Stanford Stadium and came away with a 38-36 upset win Saturday night.

Vernon Adams was sensational, completing 10-of-12 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. He spearheaded an attack that piled up 438 yards against a solid Cardinal defense.

Kevin Hogan was solid for the most of the night, but he made two crucial mistakes when he fumbled a pair of snaps under center, which Oregon came away with on both occasions. Despite those mistakes, he had the Cardinal in position to force overtime when he threw a touchdown to Greg Taboada with 14 seconds to go in the game. The Ducks defense held on the two-point conversion attempt to seal the huge upset and reshape the College Football Playoff race.
