Portland man accused of sexually abusing girls in Goodwill, Fred Meyer – OregonLive.com
A Portland man was arrested Monday on suspicion of groping at least two girls at two different stores earlier that day.
Ricardo Sanchez-Garcia, 55, remains held in the Multnomah County Detention Center on Tuesday on accusations of first-degree sexual abuse.
Surveillance video from a Safeway near Northeast Sandy Boulevard and 68th Avenue and a Goodwill store near Northeast 122nd Avenue and Marine Drive showed Sanchez-Garcia inappropriately touching two girls, court documents show. Customers at the Goodwill took down the license plate number from his car, and police used it and the video footage to help identify him.
According to court documents, Sanchez-Garcia called over a 10-year-old girl he didn’t know at the Safeway, asked for help getting a wine bottle and abused her while lifting her up to get the item. The girl and her mother told a store employee, but the stranger was gone by the time police arrived.
A customer and employee at Goodwill told police Sanchez-Garcia followed around a girl who appeared to be 9, touching his genitals as he was doing so, court documents said. He later sexually abused her while in the toy aisle.
Sanchez-Garcia was arrested at his home later that day. Portland police ask anyone with information on any other possible victims to contact Detective Stephen Gandy at 503-823-0185 or [email protected].
