Players to Watch

Adam Kwarasey, GK: Kwarasey scored the game-winning penalty kick and made the game-winning save to lead the Timbers to an epic 7-6 penalty kick win over Sporting Kansas City Thursday. The Timbers will once again look to Kwarasey to come up big Sunday against Vancouver.

Darlington Nagbe, M: Nagbe has been playing well recently and finished the regular season with three goals in the final two games. Nagbe also converted a penalty kick in Thursday’s playoff game. Nagbe has caused problems for Vancouver in the past and will once again look to frustrate the Whitecaps Sunday.

Rodney Wallace, F: Wallace scored Portland’s opening goal against Sporting Kansas City Thursday. Wallace now has an assist or a goal in the last three games. The Timbers winger will once again look to create opportunities in the attack Sunday.

Vancouver Whitecaps

Kendall Waston, D: Waston was one of the top center backs in MLS this season and was a big reason why the Whitecaps recorded a league-leading 13 shutouts this year. Waston is a very physical defender that will look to make things difficult for Portland’s attacking players.

Octavio Rivero, F: Rivero led Vancouver with 10 goals, including five game-winning goals, this season and also added three assists in 30 starts. Rivero will look to cause problems for Portland’s back line, create goal scoring opportunities and convert his chances Sunday.

Kekuta Manneh, F: Manneh scored seven goals and recorded a club-leading six assists in 2015. Manneh will look to use his speed to disrupt Portland’s back line and create opportunities in the attack.
