Portland Tornado: Four churches, Goodwill among damaged buildings – WLNS
PORTLAND, MI (WLNS) – Four churches and Goodwill in Portland were damaged by Monday’s tornado. In addition, the Red Tomato restaurant, cars, about 75 homes, trees and the sign at Rite Aid were damaged.
Damaged buildings 6 News has learned of include First Congregational Church, Portland United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, Epic Community Church, Red Tomato, Health Source Physical Therapy and Goodwill.
Chief Knobelsdorf of the Portland Police Department sent out a press release, asking that anyone who does not live in the city stay away from Portland. For those in Portland, if you need emergency assistance, call 911.
The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado with 100 mph winds touched down.
