Early reports showed Blazer interest in Rasual Butler this morning, but later reports dispute it.

UPDATE: Just like that, Quick says Butler isn’t happening. The merry go round continues to turn.

Edit: In the same article, Quick also notes the Blazers do NOT have interest in 29 year old wingman Gerald Green (we misread the article and previously listed the Blazers as interested in his services, apologies for the error). Also well-traveled, Green settled into a primary role with the Phoenix Suns over the past two seasons, averaging 15.8 and 11.9 points over that span. (Per Basketball-Reference)

Jason Quick of The Oregonian reports that the Blazers have tendered an offer to Rasual Butler, who most recently played for the Washington Wizards. However, he hasn’t leaped at the opportunity:

According to a source, Butler has been offered a contract, but is in no hurry to sign, as he mulls other interest from teams, which includes San Antonio and Golden State.

Since being drafted in 2002, Butler has resided across the country while playing for the Heat, Hornets, Clippers, Bulls, Raptors and most recently, Washington.

Butler, 36, peaked in 2008-2010 where he averaged over 11 points per game. After a few low-scoring seasons, he bounced back to average 7.7 points with the rising Wizards. (Per Basketball-Reference)

His recent salaries have reportedly been under $2 million, so despite the rising salary cap, this transaction would not be likely to cut heavily into Portland ample cap space after the departure of LaMarcus Aldridge.
