Two shootings in NE Portland, no victims – kgw.com
PORTLAND, Ore. — There were two shootings within two hours in Northeast Portland Friday night, including one outside a popular mall. There were no victims in either shooting, according to Portland police.
The first shooting took place at 6:54 p.m. at the 700 block of Northeast Killingsworth Street. Officers and the Gang Enforcement team located two vehicles, including a U.S. Postal Service vehicle, struck by bullets, police said.
Witnesses described the suspect to police as an African-American male wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts and a hat. Witnesses last saw him running southbound on Eighth Avenue.
The intended victims were described as two African-American males, who also ran from the scene, police said.
The second shooting occurred in a Lloyd Center mall parking lot at 8:22 p.m., according to police.
A disturbance inside the mall led to gunshots being fired in the parking structure on the northwest side of the mall, police said.
The shooting involved numerous African-American males who ran away or fled in vehicles, witnesses told police.
Several people were detained, police said. The mall was not placed into lock down.
Police do not know if the two shootings were related.
