MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — While there was a jovial atmosphere among the soon-to-be customers lined up outside Trulieve’s Sabraton location Friday morning, it was business as usual for Kim Rivers, company CEO.

Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers welcomes those in attendance for the grand opening of West Virginia’s first medical cannabis dispensary.

“Truly, we are all about providing patient access, and to be the first medical marijuana dispensary in the state of West Virginia is an incredible achievement,” Rivers said. “The team has done a fabulous job. And we’re very, very excited to serve the patients here today and in the future.”

Trulieve is headquartered in Florida, and is the first medical cannabis company in the state of Florida. Trulieve features more than 900 products from its own branded products, as well as national partners. The company began a national expansion strategy in 2019.

Ron Frye, an Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient, was Trulieve’s first customer Friday, and the first recipient of medicinal cannabis services in West Virginia.
